Database Objects:

  • Table - stores data in rows and columns
  • Schema - container for tables (like a folder)
  • Database - collection of schemas
  • Catalog - collection of databases

Query Terms:

  • Query - a request for data
  • Result set - data returned by a query
  • Predicate - condition in WHERE clause
  • Expression - calculation or transformation

Data Terms:

  • Row/Record/Tuple - one entry in a table
  • Column/Field/Attribute - one property
